Hybrid cars

What is a hybrid car? A hybrid car is a vehicle that basically has two engines or two sources of power. It also has a special system for capturing braking energy and storing it in a battery. The typical hybrid that is common to day is the hybrid between a gas and electric engine. Some other examples are: Air and internal combustion engines, a rechargeable energy source /battery, liquid nitrogen, solar, or human power.

The need for hybrids. They are also one of the solutions for solving the oil problems, and some of the global warming problems.

= + Pros Saving the environment and the world together! The use of 2 engines is kind of like a safety net. If one breaks down you have the other. Saves gas money. (48-60 mpg) Helps the environment/ reduces the amount of pollution in the air. Tax rebate Includes most up to date technology. Saving the environment and the world together! = + American hybrid European Hybrid

Cons They are expensive. Complex systems that are needed. Higher repair bills. They are less useful over continuous high speed driving. The possibility of a shortage of a raw material called dysprosium that is required in electric motors and battery systems. All of the high voltage circuited used in a hybrid, which could be a problem if ever in an accident. Size of the vehicle.
