The Race to Poverty and Pollution. By Tighe Godfrey Ekern Are we driving our way to a blood thirsty world filled with poverty and pollution? How to Learn More And Reply to this Article... Why not? Who's affected? What are the solutions? what's the chaos? electric cars.

How to Learn More And Reply to this Article... Why not? Who’s affected? What are the solutions ? What's the chaos? What's the chaos? We need non-fossil fuel cars, because of oil dependency, we can no longer afford the price of oil. Oil may go up to twenty dollars a gallon by 2,020! Our country needs a new source of fuel, because of air pollution- vehicles are the third largest source of pollution. Once the economy gets better, more people will get oil, and the demand will get higher, causing lines that take hours to get oil from prices that break our bank. You may not even be able to get oil when you need it. our way of living and freedom to drive will be at stake. Cars give off a lot of pollution. the pollution kills 30,00o people a year. Wouldn’t you want to live In a world with little Pollution, no horns honking, no car engines in your ear? Than go electric. Power Word Pollution: the introduction of harmful substances or products into the environment. Economy: the use of resources as an organic whole. THINK: what would happen if we had no gas?

How to Learn More And Reply to this Article... Why not? Who’s affected? What are the solutions ? What's the chaos? What are the solutions? the world could use bio-diesel, electric cars, hybrid cars for a smarter way of transportation. bio-diesel would help America, because they are made by soybean or corn, an American industry. It is environmentally friendly. It would reduce our demand for foreign oils, supporting our economy. It even lubricates the engine. Hybrid power combines two sources, fuel and electric for the total package. More specifically battery power, and an internal combustion chamber. The driver can choose one or both depending on the length of the journey. An electric car use a rechargeable battery.they cause 97% less pollution then most cars. Many people don’t buy them, because they can’t travel as far, and they take a while to charge. At the top of the line, Tesla cars, the ferarri of electric, can go 400 miles in a 4 hour charge. The down side is that they need electricity, and electricity comes from coal burning That has a lot of carbon dioxide released. Solar power, and wind can help us avert this problem. Power Word Hybrid: two items combined. Tesla: A genius inventor now the name of the most luxuries electric car. THINK: what car would you use? electrichybrid Bio-diesel

How to Learn More And Reply to this Article... Why not? Who’s affected? What are the solutions ? What's the chaos? Who’s affected? Mankind is hurt by this pollution. Car emissions kill 30,000 people each year in the United States. More than half the people in the United States drive vehicles that fail to meet the federal standards. Motor vehicles account for 72% of the nitrogen oxides and 52% of reactive hydrocarbons – the principle source of smog. All of this hurts our ozone and causes global warming. It hurts animals too, and we share this planet with them. It’s also not fair to future generations who will be faced with poverty, pollution and a worse quality of life. It’s time we step up and start helping the environment and our future. Power Words: Ozone layer: A protective shell for earth. Smog: air pollution by a mixture of smoke and fog. Think: Does this worry you, because you live in a polluted environment?

Why not? You might just wonder why we all don’t use more efficient cars, but there are problems. Right now, we don’t have enough electric grids to power everything. There is also no perfect car. Electric cars run only around 100 miles before they have to be charged. The electric motor only lasts about two years and than it has to be changed for a price tag of $2,000.00. Also, electric cars often have to charge for 8 hours and the car is also very expensive. Hybrid vehicles need special registrations in some states and they cost more. These cars have a greater chances of breaking down and less places that can fix them. Parts may cost more because they make a much smaller numbers of them than the parts for the gas cars. High mileage tires are smaller, but cost more. In most vehicles, the hybrids have a slower acceleration, a problem for many drivers trying to get on the highway. Another big factor is that many people just can’t make the change to a more efficient car right now because the economy is so bad they do not have the money to buy a new car. Instead, they drive around in dated, big gas guzzling cars. How to Learn More And Reply to this Article... Why not? Who’s affected? What are the solutions ? What's the chaos? THINK: what would happen if we had no gas? Power words: Acceleration: the time for a car to get to a top speed.
