Car emissions kill 30,000 people each year in the United States. More than half the people in the United States drive vehicles that fail to meet the federal standards. High mileage tires are smaller, but cost more. In most vehicles, the hybrids have a slower acceleration, a problem for many drivers trying to get on the highway. Another big factor is that many people just can’t make the change to a more efficient car right now because the economy is so bad they do not have the money to buy a new car.
