Presentation transcript:

Dave Dixon and Dale MacQuarrie

 It’s a way of using technology to make your job easier!  Called an LMS (Learning Management System)  Used for ~8 years in district  Some schools have own server, most at eclass.sd42.ca

 Understand the activities Moodle offers  Opportunity to try out activities  Show how to build your own course  Build your own course  Tell others how great it is!

 saving time on photocopying course materials  less paperwork (or paper marking) to carry with you  allows for faster and easier (marking) overall  richer and more interactive homework and/or assignments  no lost assignments

 once created, have course forever  some students excel at discussing online rather than face-to-face  time and date stamped  written output increases  students notified when assignments marked  feedback stored in Moodle – can’t be lost  parents can access Moodle courses  not platform dependent

 Demonstrate Activities

 Your course has been set up. You have been assigned as the teacher.  Settings  Feedback  Set up enrollments  Manual enrollment  Self enroll with Enrollment key

 Turn editing to “On”  Add files  Add blocks  Use pull down menus to add modules (resources and activities)  Use question symbols for excellent help

 Hand out worksheet = place word document onto a course and tell the students where it is  In-class end-of-unit test = create a quiz. Stick to short answer and multiple choice items for an easy life smile  Set essay homework = create assignment  Show video with worksheet = embed a YouTube video in a quiz as a description, then have them discuss in a forum
