Hunger Statistics In 2013, 49.1 million Americans lived in food insecure households, including 33.3 million adults and 15.8 million children. 1 in 6 people relies on SNAP (food stamps), the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, which is severely threatened by budget cuts. Half of all people on SNAP are kids 1 in 5 kids in Washington state lives in a household that struggles to put food on the table Food insecurity exists in every county in America, ranging from a low of 4% to a high of 33%
