48.8 million Americans lived in food insecure households, including 32.8 million adults and million children
14 percent of households (17.4 million households) are food insecure.
Households with children are more than twice the rate of food insecurity as those without children (16.7 v. 8.2)
3.0 million (9%) households with seniors age 65 and older experienced food insecurity. 1.2 million (9%) households composed of seniors living alone experienced food insecurity
