Review  The DPAS II framework has three tiers Components – broad areas of teacher practice and responsibility Criteria – essential knowledge and skills related to each component Elements – observable areas of knowledge and skills related to each criterion

What’s new in related to Criteria?  Opportunity for LEA’s to utilize one less criterion in each Component

Component 1 – Planning and Preparation  Component 1 focuses on how a teacher selects and organizes programs and/or services provided to students.  Component 1 Criteria: 1a. Selecting Instructional Goals (Optional) 1b. Designing Coherent Instruction 1c. Demonstrating Knowledge of Content and Pedagogy (Optional) 1d. Demonstrating Knowledge of Students 1e. Designing Student Assessments

Component 2 – The Classroom Environment  Component 2 focuses on interactions with students that reflect genuine respect and caring for individuals as well as the group.  Component 2 Criteria: 2a.
