Analysis of Reception Parental Questionnaire – May 2014 Mr Ian Bartle - Headteacher

Analysis of Responses Reception Parent / Carer Responses – 5 out of 15 families = 33.3% (1 return = 20%) The school underwent an full Ofsted Inspection – May Parents had an opportunity to discuss their views with ‘Parent View’ & talk to the inspector

Response – Questions 1 - 4

Responses – Questions 5 - 8

Overall Average Responses

From Total Responses Key Points – from comments made on forms & data – POSITIVE The OVERALL picture is VERY POSITIVE – Improvement since last questionnaire; particularly with ‘strongly agree’ category - However, the school underwent a full Ofsted Inspection during early May 2014 & parents / carers had opportunities to speak to the Inspector +complete a questionnaire % average = ‘strongly agreed’ (May 2013) compared to 85% average (May 2014) - 100% either ‘strongly agreed / agreed’ with all questions – except 1 response (due to personal child care – Q6)

Reception / Induction Issues – From Responses From comments made on forms & data – MAIN ISSUES to be addressed 1 comment – Lots of info at 1st Induction Evening – Uniform list would be useful (make parents more aware it is within prospectus) 1 comment – Date list on web-site (easier sign-posting for dates on web-site?) 1 comment – Make clear to new parents which whole school events they can attend (within newsletters make this clear & explain routine events – e.g. ‘Show / Tell Assemblies’ 1 comment – Provide children who are ready with full-time opportunity (if this is appropriate from professional viewpoint as well) 2 comments – Lots of people ‘over-crowding’ in the conservatory (this might need adjusting next year?)

Comments – Positive Feedback - 1 Visits to the playgroups worked well from Miss Craddock & Mrs Dennett Parent Assemblies are ‘wonderful’ Easy transition to school ‘The journey into school has been seamless’ ‘Thank you. My child is still enthusiastic about going to school in the morning – something must be fab!’. Well done to all the staff. ‘We are thrilled with Thornford School & as so pleased our younger daughter will be joining in September’ ‘All the extra support, advice & guidance with X has been much appreciated’ Good to have lots of outside activities ‘X settled in so well & loves school’ ‘Thank you all for all your dedication and hard work’
