Your Personal Mandala and your Autobiography Getting to Know You Your Personal  Mandala and your Autobiography

Your Personal Mandala To celebrate a new school year, you are going to design your own personal mandala.  Your personal mandala will represent you as a diverse and unique individual who is needed to create our class dynamic, and will be displayed among the other student’s mandala designs to symbolize you as an important part of our class, thus illustrating the concept of part of a whole.

How to design your personal mandala Use your brainstorming chart: Things that are important to me Symbols representing the things that are important to me. What the symbols mean. Note: Reflect on yourself as a person-your past, present, and future, your goals, hopes, and dreams or anything that makes you who you are--a unique, diverse, and important individual.

Do you understand me? Talk over your mandala chart with a partner. Discuss your symbols ~ Is your meaning clear? Make any changes Decide which symbols you would like to use for your mandala.

Add Pizzazz! Draw your symbols and add color to your personal mandala with markers or colored pencils. Cut out your mandala. Place your name on the back of the circle. Use pencil.

Writing your mandala paragraphs Ask yourself these questions…

Writing your mandala paragraphs Who are you? I am… Who or what is important to you? What are some of your goals in life? Who or what has had the most influence on you? What do you hope to achieve in your lifetime? What makes you unique?

Are we done yet? Complete your mandala brainstorm chart. Conference with partner for clarify. Color and cut out your design. Put your first and last name on the BACK of your mandala. (Use a pencil.) Your completed mandala and essay are due on Wednesday, September 4th.
