Take out your rough draft of your mandala. Trade with a partner for a quick peer review.
DIRECTIONS:
Take the mandala given you and answer the following questions on a post-it note:
What are FOUR THINGS you can tell about this person based on their mandala?
What is ONE THING that you really like about it?
What is ONE SUGGESTION you could give them to make their final draft perfect?

2. MANDALAS AS NARRATIVE WRITING
Task: To celebrate a new school year, you are going to design your own personal mandala. Your personal mandala will represent you as a diverse and unique individual who is needed to create our class dynamic, and will be displayed among the other student’s mandala designs to symbolize you as an important part of our class, thus illustrating the concept of part of a whole.
Standard: Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events.
While the mandala is not writing, it is a form of NARRATIVE as you’re using symbolism and color symbolism to express your identity and the real experiences you have had.

3. PERSONAL MANDALAS Requirements for Final Draft:
Add color with markers/colored pencils/crayons. Colors must represent your personality based on the color symbolism activity. Include explanations on Step 2 of your handout.
Include AT LEAST THREE SYMBOLS (definitely you can do m ore). Include explanations on Step 2 of your handout.
Be neat and creative.
Use minimal writing; focus on symbolism.
Cut your mandala out before turning it in.
Write your first and last name and block on the BACK of your mandala with a pencil.
Mandalas are due at the end of class today.
