For When I Am Weak Then I Am Strong 2 Corinthians 12:10
Background Paul had many trials and hardships (2 Cor. 11) Paul was given great things but also a thorn in the flesh (2 Cor. 12) Paul’s “weak” life of serving Christ caused him to gain his “strength” from God (1 Cor. 2:3; 4:10; 2 Cor. 11:30; 13:4,9) – a paradox
Weakness and Strength Some are weak in weakness (Prov. 30:7-9; Heb. 12:12-13) Some are weak in strength (Ex. 5-11; Judges 14-16; Job 12:21; 38:4; Prov. 18:11; Rev. 17-18) We must be strong in weakness (Heb. 11:35)
Our Strength Comes From God Great things may happen our life but we must not lose sight of our dependence upon God (2 Cor. 12:7) We must guard against pride and self- confidence (1 Cor. 10:12) Spiritual strength comes through faith and obedience to God (Jer. 9:23-24)
Our Strength Comes From God Strength comes through a strong relationship with Christ and his word (Eph. 3:16; Col. 1:11) Some are areas of our life may need attention (Rev. 3:2), then we can help others (Lk. 22:32)
