The Holocaust Begins 1933 The Nazi party takes power in Germany. Adolf Hitler becomes chancellor,or prime minister of Germany. Nazis 'temporarily' suspend civil liberties of the Jews 1935 Jews are deprived of their citizenship and other basic rights. Jews had to wear a bright yellow star on their clothing.*

The Holocaust cont. Isolating the Jews -Germany takes over Czechoslovakia and invades Poland. -Segregated cities in Poland that Hitler wanted Jewish people to emigrate to were called ghettos.* -Nazis begin deporting German Jews to Poland. -Nazis begin the first mass murder of Jews in Poland.

Hitler’s “Final Solution” -Hitler’s “Final Solution” was the genocide, the systematic killing of an entire people.* -Jews are put into concentration camps. (1940) - Chelmno, the name of the first concentration camp that opened.*
