The patch The pill The implant Injection

They are made of estrogen or progestin Most contraceptives are made for women. The most popular hormonal contraceptive is the combination pill.

This is a thin, beige, plastic patch that sticks to the skin. A woman places a new patch on her skin each week for three weeks, followed by one week with no patch. The patch contains estrogen and progestin, the same hormones that are in the birth control pill. Like the pill, the patch prevents ovulation (releasing of the egg)

The pill is the most popular type of birth control. There are many different brands and come in packs of 21 or 28 The last 7 pills of a 28 pack have no hormones and are called spacer pills. The pill is % effective. It does not protect against HIV/AIDS

It is close to 100 per cent effective The implant lasts for three years It costs around $20-25 for current Medicare card holders At most it takes one week to become effective

You do not have to remember to take a pill every day. You only have to think about contraception every 2-3 months. It does not interfere with sex It can be used when breastfeeding. It may help some of the problems of periods, such as pre-menstrual tension, heavy periods and pain..
