Risk of Unintended Pregnancy and Disease with Unprotected Sexual Intercourse  Among high school students in the United States surveyed in 2011, 47.4% had ever had sexual intercourse.  Furthermore, 33.7% had sexual intercourse during the previous 3 months and of these, 39.8% did not use a condom the last time they had sex and 76.7% did not use birth control pills or Depo-Provera (birth control shot) to prevent pregnancy.  Nearly half of the 19 million new STDs each year are among young people aged 15-24 years. Students your age need to adopt lifelong attitudes and behaviors that support overall health and wellness, especially ones that reduce the risk of unintended pregnancy and other STDs.
