Inverness is the largest city in the north of Scotland and it is considered the gateway to the Highlands, it is located on the River Ness and the southwestern end of the Moray Firth. The city is located at the end of the Great Glen, with Loch Ness, Loch and Loch Ashie Duntelchaig west.

Its buildings are relatively recent (nineteenth century AD), built on the ruins of Inverness destroyed by secular wars and rivalries. Being placed on a confluence of maritime routes and lands had influences of different populations, such as Pitti, Vikings, English and Scottish clans

Inverness is the administrative, commercial and industrial part of the Scottish Highlands, with 'traditional industry and technology. It is also considered as one of the fastest growing cities in Europe
