GÁBINA UHLÍŘOVÁ student from grade seven Scotland - 2010 / holida ys

In August we were in Scotland with my boyfriend. We spent beautiful 14 days there. We passed trough the considerable part of Scotland, visiting the most known places, towns, castles, but most of the time of our journey was spent in the nature. In the beginning of our journey we were in Edinburgh, the capital city of Scotland. It´s really a nice medieval town, the atmosphere of this town made me feel good.

The next days were spent on surveying the local nature. We made eventful trips to the surroundings.

One day we made a trip to Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the UK. The trip took us the whole day but the view of the top of the mountain - so impressive!

Afterwards our way turned to the north. Visiting famous castles, for example the Eilean Donnan Castle. What a nice castle! When you arrive there, strange and old atmosphere will influence you…

Our next destination was the island Skye. Skye is the most beautiful part of Scotland. Here you will find the real rouge Scottish nature. The local cattle are free pastured, without any barriers. Tourism is not as widespread as on the mainland. Landscape here is really nice, so we made lot of trips there.

We also visited a nice port called Ulapool. Our journey continued still to the north, to a well-known city Inverness. We were also attracted by Loch Ness, unfortunately, we couldn’t see the monster but the atmosphere of the lake was so wonderful! We slept by the lake.

We also visited one of the most widespread industry in Scotland, the whiskey factory. Then our way turned to the south. On our way back we still visited many towns, like Conwy, Liverpool and so on. In Conwy there is the smallest house in UK.

Scotland is a wonderful country, full of nice people, beautiful nature and animals. The only thing that bothered me were mosquitoes. The local midges, as they are called in Scotland, are really annoying creatures! Our mosquitoes are nothing compared to them. I really don’t understand how Scots were able to wear only kilts in the past… But still I glowingly recommend everybody to visit Scotland. We’re sure to return there!
