HEAL THE WORLD! Brainstorming to find unemployment solutions. Team members: Alexis FINKBEINER (team leader) Perrine LECLERC Thomas GUILLARD Country: France School: Institut Sup’Biotech of Paris 1

Heal the world!: Alexis FINKBEINER, Perrine LECLERC, Thomas GUILLARD Youth unemployment is due to many factors which create a vicious circle. Step by step: crisis, economical factors delocalisation political decisions The elderly cannot live without a job nor with just their retirement There are less jobs on the market Youth unemployment. Step by step EXPERIENCE AND DISCOVER The diagramm : exponentialimprovement.com Statistics France: youth unemployment ≈ 28% Total unemployment = 10%. Senior Citizens (+65 years old) have to work because they cannot live without a job Older generation unemployment is increasing. (statistics of Insee) 2

Heal the world!: Alexis FINKBEINER, Perrine LECLERC, Thomas GUILLARD SOLUTIONS Show French advantages: Luxury items Gastronomy Cereal agriculture Tourism. Make investments in these domains and develop them (government and private investors); favor co- operative education schools in these domains. Goal : restart the economy Propose a law: internships and all jobs must be paid, increase the monthly retirement income. We have to develop a new process. The goal is to use senior experience in order to train youth. That may reduce unemployment. Scientists leave France because they cannot do their research the way they want. By developping research we create jobs. Sometimes, managers think young people do not have enough work experience. To have experience, someone has to give us a chance. 3

Heal the world!: Alexis FINKBEINER, Perrine LECLERC, Thomas GUILLARD RESULTS AND OUTCOMES Insee website Le Monde website Pôle emploi website BIBLIOGRAPHY Average time : 12 years plus one generation People employment : increases exponentionally Budget (for 12 years): ≈ 2 billion euros Our solutions have advantages and drawbacks but, we have to consider human and financial benefits carefully. 4

IN REAL LIFE Heal the world!: Alexis FINKBEINER, Perrine LECLERC, Thomas GUILLARD Feedbacks We asked: Romain El Andaloussi, manager of the association Cook & Lab students of Sup’biotech and of the Faculty of Medicine of Saint Quentin en Yvelines. They said: we targeted the most important points we have a realistic vision of the situation. Make it work: implement We find one company, GLOBE diffusion, which applies all our ideas. employed 20 young people/ week free training encourages youth employment shows the example of what other companies have to do to reduce youth unemployment. If all our ideas were applied: it allows to hire 10 thousands young people in 12 years. It is not a revolutionary concept for youth unemployment, but we can consider that our solutions are a little progress for youth employment. 5
