Word Processing A word processor is a computer application used for the production of any sort of printable material. Ex.: Microsoft Word and Lotus Word Pro.

Spreadsheets A spreadsheet is a computer application that stimulates a paper, accounting worksheet. Spreadsheets are commonly used in businesses for accounting and creating graphs. Ex.: Microsoft Excel and Lotus

Database A database is an integrated collection of logically-related records or files consolidated into a common pool that provides data for one or more multiple uses. Ex.: Microsoft Access and Panorama.

Presentation A presentation program is a computer software package used to display information, normally in the form of a slide show. Ex.: Microsoft PowerPoint and AppleWorks.

Tablet PC A slate or tablet-shaped mobile computer device, equipped with a touchscreen or stylus. Ex.: Microsoft Office OneNote and Microsoft Windows Journal.

Touchscreen A touchscreen is an electronic visual display that can detect the presence and location of a touch within the display area. Ex.: Nintendo DS and Blackberry Storm.

Netbooks Small, light and inexpensive laptop computers suited for general computing and accessing web-based applications. Ex.: Sony Vaio and Dell Mini Netbooks.

PDA A mobile device which functions as a personal information manager and connects to the internet. Ex.: Palm TX and EO Personal Communicator.

Handheld Device A pocket-sized computing device, typically having a display screen with touch input or a miniature keyboard. Ex.: E-Book Readers and Graphing Calculators.

Business Peripherals Technology used to communicate in business. Ex.: Headsets and Webcams
