1-7-14: Vocabulary page 395 – Write the word, part of speech, definition, the sentence from the book, and an original sentence. Read “When I Heard the Learn’d Astronomer,” “A Sight in Camp,” and “Beat! Beat! Drums!” Discuss Author’s Purpose, word choice, and literary elements.

1-8-14: What are the themes in your life? List at least 3. Theme – The meaning you want to convey through your life. Read “Song of Myself” 1, 16, 51, and 52 Discuss form, function, and purpose.
