Welcome Back  I hope you had a wonderful and relaxing break!

2 Absences, Make-up Work, & Late Work
It is YOUR responsibility to get your makeup work from the bin when you return. If you fail to turn in work from absences, they will be recorded as zeros in the grade book. You have the number of days you were absent to make up your work. Late work will not be accepted!

3 Tardy/Late Policy If you come into the classroom after the bell starts to ring, you are tardy. 1st tardy: warning 2nd tardy: conference with teacher/parent contact 3rd tardy: lunch detention 4th tardy: referral; tardy is recorded as “Late” Each tardy after will be recorded as “Late” Late = 10 or more minutes late to class Late = unexcused absence Four or more unexcused absences = automatic “F” for the nine weeks in this class

4 Electronics Please put your electronics in the numbered pockets to match the number on your desk. Entering the classroom with electronics/headphones on or taking your electronics out during class will result in immediate confiscation. First offense: Teacher holds item till end of day; warning Second offense: Item is sent to student affairs with a referral.

5 Lunch Detention Lunch Detentions are served at 11:15 AM on an assigned date. Miss it once: warning; another chance Miss it twice: referral and lunch detention in cafeteria

6 Notebook Check A notebook check will occur during the week of May A list of assignments to gather and organize will be given to you one week prior to the notebook check. The assignments I will be asking for were to be placed in the back of your notebook throughout the semester.

7 Book Talks Due every Friday, unless noted otherwise.
Your Book Talk should include the following information: Name of Book Pages read this week Summary (at least 6 sentences) Most shocking/interesting/favorite moment thus far OR a question you might have for the author Interesting or unknown vocabulary with their definitions (at least 2)

8 Choice Book Report The book you select for this quarter will be used for a book report. The book you select should be at least 200 pages long and be one that you have not read before. All books must be approved before you begin reading. A rubric will be given out and a sign-up sheet for presentations will be on my desk closer to the middle of the quarter.

9 Vocabulary Quizzes This semester’s vocab quizzes will include:
Short answer response Matching True/false statements Fill in the blank sentences You will need to study ALL of the examples. SAMPLE

10 Extra Credit Opportunities
Cell phones in pockets Points will not be tallied every day, nor will I share when I will recording points. One Achieve3000 article per week You will need an 88% or better to get the points. Tickets Bathroom passes
