Connecting Jordanians Initiative (CJI), aims to coordinate and accelerate critical developments and reforms intended to make ICT an important facet in the lives of all Jordanians and to improve their economic, social and cultural prospects in meaningful ways (Ministry of ICT) Background

National Broadband Network (NBN) The NBN is a comprehensive Learning and Public Access Network that will connect: Public Universities & MOHE (12 site) Public schools (3200 school) Community Colleges (20 site) Public access sites. (Currently 114 site)

Jordanian Universities Network The Jordanian Universities Network was implemented as the first phase of the NBN with the following objectives: To provide the Jordanian Research and Learning (R&L) institutions with a first class TCP/IP network which will facilitate communications, collaboration, experimentation, and learning. To encourage students, faculty members, and researchers to use high speed networks to increase productivity and foster a culture of innovation. To develop a Jordanian Research & Learning community. To provide a platform for connecting the Jordan R&L community to the global R&L community.

Topology & Technology Built using dark fiber leased from National Power Company on Indefeasible Right to Use (IRU) basis The core of the network consists of three Cisco 76xx routers with full redundancy in terms of links, supervisor engines, power supplies... Each edge side of the network consists of a Cisco 73xx router at each University / campus. Each University enjoys 1 Gigabit link to the core The Multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) was selected at the core of the network for Flexibility, Scalability, Manageability, Security, Quality of services and Control
