Creating sustainable development for people of all ages The HelpAge Global Network taking a lead role to influence the discussions in more than 20 countries across the globe. The Stakeholder Group on Ageing influencing the discussions at the United Nations in New York. Members include IFA, AARP, ICSW, ILC, Gray Panthers and HelpAge. The global campaign includes:

What are the positives? Strong support for a target to end all forms of discrimination and violence against girls and women of all ages. A goal is been proposed to “Attain healthy life for all at all ages” including targets to reduce NCDs and increase healthy life expectancy. A target is being proposed to empower and promote the social and economic inclusion of a older people along with other groups such as children, youth and women. Growing collaboration with the Youth and Gender constituencies Human rights high on the agenda

What are the challenges? Target on social protection floor is not yet universal – not good enough. Decent work target does not include older people Language ‘of all ages’ is still not secured Not enough Member States speaking out clearly and consistently on ageing

Four domains and thirteen indicators

What next? Work as a global network and coalition to make sure ageing and older people are included in final framework. More information and opportunities to engage at: Find out what your government is saying and ask them to say more on ageing Find all country statements from the last Open Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals session here:
