How does it work? Energy is harnessed from the internal heat of different layers within the ground of the Earth in order to create energy.

Machinery & Processes Involved Cold water is injected into the ground and heated by the internal heat of earths layers in order to recuperate the water in the form of steam through a spinning a turbine on the surface creating ENERGY.

The Energy Efficiency Ratio Geothermal is much more efficient than energy created with fossil fuels and has a ratio of 3-4:1 when in comparison to most ordinary systems. :

Where The Resource Is Most Likely To Be Used: . . .

Problems That Geothermal Energy Faces: Can They Be Fixed? Not a widespread source of energy High installation costs Can run out of steam Can not be easily transported - Many of these issues come with having to harness the energy from geological processes.

Geothermal Energy Vs. Traditional Fossil Feuls PROS CONS More Cost Effective Cleaner a.k.a. less CO2, NO2 emissions More Efficient Runs more consistently Can be used in more places New technologies are being made Limited Geographic availability of geothermal energy Deeper drilling = more difficult and more expensive Uses a lot of water Open loop system setup vs. closed loop system setup Transportation
