2 What Is Geothermal Energy?
Geothermal energy is energy from the heat produced by the earth. Some examples are: Magma Hot springs Inner layers of the earth

3 How do We Harness Geothermal Energy?
It is mainly harnessed by a process known as heat mining. First, a hot spot in the earth must be found. Once the hot spot is found, holes are drilled down to a layer of hot rock. Then, cool water is poured down one hole, causing it to become superheated, and it is pumped up the other hole. The superheated water is then pressurized into steam, so it can power a steam turbine to produce usable electricity.

5 Where is Geothermal Energy Used today?
Iceland is one of the biggest users of geothermal energy. 90% of its heating comes from geothermal energy and 25% of its energy is also geothermal. Also, California houses the biggest geothermal plant in the world, The Geysers, which makes enough energy to power San Francisco and more.

6 What are the Advantages of Geothermal Energy?
Since nothing is being burned, there is no air pollution. Also, it is extremely reliable since it does not depend on weather or non-renewable resources that could run out. It is also nearly infinite in supply. No emissions from mining or transportation (except for the initial drilling).

7 What are the Disadvantages of Geothermal Energy?
It is hard to locate areas to harness geothermal energy because the earth’s crust must be thinner there to do so. It uses up large amounts of water. Locations of plants are often far from cities. It expensive to construct a geothermal plant and to drill deep enough.
