The meteorologists look at the picture and determine the weather. Then they distribute the information to the public.

Well, if you think that you’re wrong. Bernard Gordon actually did. Gordon named it after Doppler because Doppler came up with the Doppler effect. The Doppler effect goes like this: When you’re in front of the car, the sound waves take less time to travel to you, which makes it’s pitch higher. When you’re behind the car, the sound waves are slower, which makes it’s pitch lower.
