Green Energy Water

Definition of Green Energy Renewable energy is generally defined as energy that comes from resources which are naturally restocks on a human timescale such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves and geo thermal heat. Renewable energy — wind, solar, geothermal, hydroelectric and biomass provides substantial benefits for our climate, our health, and our economy.

Facts of Hydro Power Hydropower uses the energy of moving water for a variety of useful applications. Hydroelectricity generates electricity by harnessing the gravitational force of falling water. In 2006, hydroelectricity supplied around 20% of the world’s electricity. Most hydroelectric power stations use water held in dams to drive turbines and generators which turn mechanical energy into electrical energy.

How is Hydro Power Collected? The hydroelectric power plant uses a dam on a river to store water in a reservoir. Water released from the reservoir flows through a turbine, spinning it, which in turn activates a generator to produce electricity.
