By :Truitt Bullard and Dylan Gay Geothermal and Coal

Geothermal

Geothermal : Important Details . Burnt at power plants . . Produces energy by going through wells and turbines . . It is nonrenewable . . This is used in the U.S and Iceland . . Mostly used to make electricity .

Geothermal : How it is used today . To heat buildings . . Used to generate power in 1.7 million homes in california . . Provides a beautiful sight at gyzers . . The steam and water is harnesed by geothermal power plants . . Used to heat fluid .

Geothermal : Advantages (right) and Disadvantages (left) DISADVANTAGES . It can cause air pollution . . It is nonrenewable . . Can block your view ( like fog) . .Can get to high temperatures . ADVANTAGES . It can power many houses at one time . . Can warm things . . It is safe for the majority of the time . .Produces electrical energy .

Coal

Coal : Important details . Coal produces energy as a fuel for heating and powering trains and homes . . Burnt at power plants to generate electricity . . Nonrenewable because it takes millions of years to form again . . Humans have used this source since the 1800’s . . Made underground and mined .

Coal : How it is used in the present . It is still used to power stoves . . Also used to power railroad locomotives and factories . . It is used to generate electricity . . It is also used for heating households .

Coal : Advantages (right) and disadvantages (left) . Can cause air pollution and acid rain . . Surface mining causes soil to be removed . . The burning of coal also poisons water supply . . Animal homes can be dug up . . It generates electricity . . It powers trains . . It provides heat . . It is somewhat cheaper than oil and gas .
