Create a Group Click on the + next to Groups. Give your group a unique name and description Give students the group code Help students sign up for Edmodo. After everyone joins, lock the group. Now only you and the students can see posts.

Post a note Write a short welcome note for students. Remind them about good online manners. Invite them to answer you and respond to classmates. Send it to the group Any time you add a poll, assignment, or other activity to the group, send a note.

Upload an Assignment Give the assignment a catchy title Simple assignments can be typed in. Click on “load assignment” to attach an assignment document you’ve already saved in Edmodo (Useful when you have multiple classes.) Choose your due date. You can “lock after due date” so students can’t turn in late assignments!

Add a Poll Polls are good ways to engage students to introduce assignments. Polls can also be used for quick- check assessments when you just want a summary. Students love responding to polls!

Create a Quiz You can load a previously created quiz or make one “on the fly.” If you create a quiz, there are several options for questions and answers. Edmodo automatically grades the quiz when you mark the correct answer. Example: Assign students to watch a video or read an online article, then take a quiz you create.

Award Badges Students love badges! You can use the badges in Edmodo or make your own. Award badges to students by clicking on Members, then the student’s name. Use badges to recognize outstanding effort or leadership.

Check Student Progress Click on Members to see your list of students For each student, you can see what has been turned in, quizzes completed, and general information This is where you reset passwords if students forget.

Use the Library The library is where you store files that are important to the class. Upload different kinds of files, such as photos, rubrics, links to websites, and other documents. Organize documents in folders Students can also upload files to the library and then tell other students where to find files when they’re working collaboratively.

Library = Collection of Resources

Practice time! Join CP Teachers group – code yucj38 Answer the question posted in my note Share your favorite website with the group by attaching it to a note Create your own class group (if you have younger students you can sign them up and give them their passwords). Play around a bit! What else can you do?

Questions or comments? Please respond to the evaluation survey when it is received.
