WELCOME PARENTS GRADE 2 MUSIC CLASS

MY NAME IS JENNY PAN  South Africa  Graduated with an English Literature Degree  Currently studying a Masters Degree in English Literature and TEFL  CELTA (Cambridge English Language Teaching)

Grade 2 Conversation

CLASS GOALS  Students will regularly practice phonemic awareness and make sentences  Nurture students to become independent English readers and learners in the future  Maximize opportunities for students to listen and speak English

IN CLASS  Warm up period where students do activities using English (5 min)  Topic introduced and discussed (5 min)  Starfall / Chall-Popp Phonics Level B (10 min)  Brain Break (5 min)  Activities to review the lesson (10 min)

ASSESSMENT  We are focusing on listening and speaking  Effort 10% Class Participation 10% Worksheet /Writing book 10% Mid-term Exam 35% Final Exam 35%

WHAT CAN PARENTS DO TO HELP  Students need to practice English as much as music!  Help your child preview/review the material  Read a few minutes a day  Go on the Starfall interactive website
