Outdoor Learning

What is Outdoor Learning? Outdoor Learning: – offers children experiences not easily achieved indoors – Provides sensory stimuli – Leads to greater levels of creativity and understanding – Allows children to develop skills, knowledge and understanding without the constraints of a classroom

At Long Crendon School we have extensive grounds rich in habitats, woodland environments and wildlife Areas we use include: – Pond – Allotments – Woodland walk Why do Outdoor Learning?

What do the children gain from Outdoor Learning? – have a hands-on approach – develop confidence, self-awareness and life skills – learn new facts, ideas and concepts about the environment and the world in which they live – grow and become more independent, motivated and willing to learn – play, explore and investigate

Don’t take our word for it… look at what the children can achieve when given the freedom of being outdoors

Tudor boys in the face of adversity!

Don’t fall in!

But where is Mr poote?

Exploring with water is so much better when we can get really wet!

It’s a windy day so let’s go fly a kite!

Which way is north?

The greenhouse is going up!

Just imagine how many of these skills will be useful in later life!
