The Feed In Tariff How does it work? What does it mean for churches? Jon Cape Managing Director, iPower October 2011 iPower

Feed In Tariff How it Works - Payment by a utility to a “FIT Generator” - “FIT Generator”: owner of generating assets - Payment is for 25 years, index linked - Eligible Tariff: Tariff in force when valid application for FIT registration is made - Application can be made once an installation is operational iPower

Current FIT Tariffs for Solar PV Generation Tariffs p/kWh: Retrofit Up to 4 kWp kWp kWp32.9 New Build up to 4 kWp37.8 Export Tariff03.1 Tariff valid for installations registered by 31 st March 2012? iPower

What is an installation? Normally, an installation is a PV system connected to a single meter with a single MPAN Number Ultimately, it is OFGEM that decides iPower

Example - Church roof with about sq m suitable roof space - Installation: 9.8 kWp: 40x245kWp panels - Insolation say 800 kWh/kWp/year kWh generated per year - FIT Generation Income: 7840 x 37.8p=£2963/year plus inflation for 25 years - FIT Export Income: if 50% exported: 3920 x 0.031p=£121/year Total FIT Income=£ Plus electricity saving say 3920 x 14p=£549 Total benefit per year: £3633 iPower

FIT Review - proposals should be announced for consultation shortly - Greg Barker speech - financial context - wide range of speculation - large system precedent - big reduction expected: 50% or more is possible - could be April May be earlier iPower

What does it mean for churches? - If you are able to, act right now - If not – may be too late to be economically attractive: will need to see FIT Review proposals - watch out for news in coming weeks iPower
