Do Now  Take out your Rough Drafts and your Grade Yourself responses  Respond to the following prompt on a whole sheet of paper:  What was one topic that you would like to learn more about from the MOT?  Why are you interested in this topic?  What are two questions that you have about this topic that you would like to research more?

Standard  Writing.8.2: Write informative/explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas, concepts, and information through the selection, organization, and analysis of relevant content.

Objective  Students will write informative texts examining one topic that they learned about at the Museum of Tolerance by creating a PowerPoint presentation with slides containing both text and pictures conveying information about their chosen topic.

Honors catch-up Activity  Socratic Seminar  Which form of media-- print, video or visual art-- is the most effective at appealing to pathos (evoking an emotional reaction)?  Write two opinions and one question.  Video of the Holocaust  Open your Google drive and open the Video of the Holocaust document and continue working on it.

MOT PowerPoint Onion Ring  Take your Do Now with you  Stand up and form two concentric circles  Line up across from the person that has the same number and color card as you do.  Example: Ace of diamonds lines up across from Ace of hearts  Each person takes 30 seconds to explain the topic that he/she is interested in researching and shares his/her questions  Make notes about any topics that you hear that also interest you  Inside circle rotates clockwise  You will use the information that you gather here to choose your groups later
