3. A PowerPoint Should Have… A picture or illustration on each slide A limited amount of words – Audience does not need to read paragraphs – Words are jumping off points for you as a presenter Structure to help your presentation progress logically.

4. Order of Pages 1 st Page: Title Page – Includes Title of Senior Project, Your Name, Teacher’s Name, and Date of Presentation 2 nd Page: Agenda – Gives the audience a brief outline of what you are going to discuss in bullet points 3 rd – 14 th Pages: Slides relating to your presentation These correlate with the bullet points on your agenda. Last Page: Questions Have the word “Questions?” and/or a cool Question related graphic.

5. Helpful Hints: Changing the Design While on a slide, click on the Design tab. Choose a slide background style that you like. Click on the choice, and it will change ALL slides. Activity: – Follow these steps, and change this PowerPoint’s design now.

6. Helpful Hints: Adding Clip Art Clipart: Click on Insert, then Clip Art. Type in your required graphic in the Search For, and then click on the picture you want. Activity: – Find a graphic in the Clip Art that represents Friendship and insert it here.

7. Helpful Hints – Adding Pictures Pictures: Click on Insert, then Picture. Choose the picture from your file by clicking on it, then clicking Insert. 8. Helpful Hints: Adding Animations Highlight the text or picture you wish to animate. Click on Animations, then Custom Animations. Click on Add Effect. Choose which type of animation you’d like, and click on it. Choose the sequence or way in which you’d like your animations to happen by clicking on each individual line/picture and changing the start, direction, and speed. Activity: Add animations to the text on this page.

9. Helpful Hints: Adding Youtube Videos Click on the ? Button under the X in the upper right hand corner. Type in “youtube” to the search option. Follow the instructions on the website that explain how to embed. You will have to practice this at home, as your computers are blocked from using youtube.com.

10. Helpful Hints: Adding a Movie or Sound from a File Click on Insert, then on Movie or Sound. Click on the Movie or Sound from your file, or from Clip Organizer. Activity: – Add the telephone sound here from the Clip Organizer.

11. Saving Your Presentation If you add a MOVIE or a SOUND from a FILE, follow these steps. Otherwise, save normally. – Click on the Windows Button in the upper left hand corner. – Click on Publish, then Package for CD. Change the Name to Your Last Name Senior Project. – Click Copy to Folder, then OK. Then click YES. – The document will be in YOUR DOCUMENTS under the folder name. Drag that file to your flash drive.
