Presentation transcript:

 The United Nations is basically group of people who are trying to keep world peace.  This organization tries to keep the cooperation between the international law, international security, economic development, social progress and human rights all over the world.  The UN has peacekeeping forces in more than a dozen countries for example India, Pakistan and Cyprus.

 The UN was first founded in 1945 after WW11 to replace The League of Nations  The League of Nations is basically the same thing as the United Nations, to stop war between countries, but it had a different name.  The League of Nations never worked out, it failed and so after WW11 it became a new organization called the UN.  There are now 192 members of the United Nations.  Canada joined the UN in 1945

 One of the things the United Nations does is help the refugees.  The UN defines refuges as someone who is displaced or kicked out of their own country, or out of their own homes in there own country.  The UNHCR, which stands for the United Nations High Commission for Refugees, creates these refugee camps for people who have no where else to go.

 The UN also created the program called Unicef.  Unicef started in December 11,  It provided emergency food and healthcare to children in countries that were destroyed in WW11.  Originally Unicef helped kids who were affected after WW11, today they help any kid in need.  In 2006 the Unicef raised around 3 billion dollars.
