The Dashboard 4 To begin, go to The first screen is the Dashboard. Click here to log in Announcements from Wiki Administrators List of spaces you can access, including Favorite Spaces and Pages Recently updated content

Log In to 5 Permission to access spaces Most spaces are private, so you need to ask the Space Administrator to give you access permission. If you don’t know the name of the Space Administrator, Click the ‘Log In’ link at the top right. If you see your name, you’re already logged in. Customize the Dashboard with Favorites 6 Click the grey star to the right of any space to make it a favorite. Your favorite spaces (now gold stars) will show up in a special section at the top of the list. Click ‘View All’ at the bottom of the list to see more spaces

Wiki Pages  You can create new pages and edit existing pages  Pages can have sub-pages called “children”  Every page must have a unique title  Pages may include text, pictures, hyperlinks to other pages, etc.  By default, a page can be edited by anyone who has permission to edit within the space 7

Add a New Wiki Page 1.Go to the ‘Add’ menu and select ‘Page’ 2.Enter a unique page title in the field at the top that says ‘New Page’ 3.Enter page content in the body of the page 4.Click Save button to save the page Notes:  You must enter a page title  The new page is created as a ‘child’ (sub-page) of page you were on  To remove a page, go to Tools > Remove (most users don’t have ‘Remove’ permissions so there won’t be a ‘Remove’ menu option) 8

Edit a Wiki Page 1.Go to the page you want to edit and click the ‘Edit’ button 2.Edit the contents of the page 3.Click the Save button Notes:  If there’s no Edit button, you don’t have sufficient permissions to edit the page  While editing, you can click the ‘Preview’ button to see what the page will look like when you save it. After previewing, click the ‘Edit’ button to return. 9

Attachments  When you attach a file, it gets attached to a single wiki page (it’s not just floating around in the space)  The file is saved in its original format (doc, xls, pdf, etc.)  Attachments can be viewed or downloaded  Most file types are supported 10

Attach a File to a Page 1.On the page where you want to attach the file, go to the ‘Add’ menu and select ‘Attachment’ 2.Click the ‘Browse’ button 3.Locate file on your computer and select it 4.Click the ‘Attach’ button Notes:  Certain browsers allow you to drag and drop a file onto a page to attach it 11

Macros 1.While editing a page, click the ‘Insert’ drop-down menu 2.Click ‘Other Macros’ 3.Select the macro you want to use 4.Set the parameters (if necessary) 5.Click the ‘Insert’ button to enter the macro into your page Notes:  To edit an existing macro, click the macro placeholder and click ‘Edit’ button  If you change parameters, click the ‘Refresh’ link to refresh the preview pane 12

View an Attached File 1.On the page where the file is attached, go to the ‘Tools’ menu and select ‘Attachments’ 2.Click the name of the file you want to view 3.Your browser may prompt you to Open or Save the file – choose Open Notes:  For a quick preview of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF files, you can click the ‘View’ link to the far right of the filename in the attachments list 13

Edit an Attached File 1.On page where file is attached, go to ‘Tools’ menu & select ‘Attachments’ 2.Click name of file you want to edit 3.Browser may prompt you to Open or Save file – choose Save 4.Go to location on computer where file is saved & open it 5.Edit the file and save it 6.Re-attach file to wiki page (see slide 11) Notes:  When you re-attach a file to a wiki page, the previous version of the file is stored and may be accessed by clicking the icon left of the filename  In certain browsers/platforms, you can edit Office files by choosing the ‘Edit in Office’ link to the far right of the filename in the attachments list 14

Creating Links 1.While editing a page, click the ‘Link’ button 2.Use the tabs to select a destination for the link  Search: type name of page to link to  Recently Viewed: link to recently viewed page  Attachments: link to attached file  Web Link: link to an external website  Advanced: enter wiki markup 3.Click the ‘Insert’ button to add link to page 4.Save the page Notes:  While editing a page, you can edit an existing link by clicking link and selecting ‘Edit’  You can type your own text for the link in the Link Text field 15

Commenting 16 1.Click the ‘Add Comment’ link near the bottom of any page 2.Enter your comment 3.Click the ‘Save’ button Notes:  Comments always appear at the bottom of the page  You can reply to an existing comment or start a new comment thread

View Page History & Restore Previous Versions 1.Go to ‘Tools’ menu and select ‘Page History’ 2.View a previous version by clicking its version number 3.Restore the previous version by clicking ‘Restore this version’ link Notes:  Versions are listed chronologically with most recent versions at top  You can compare two versions by checking their checkboxes and clicking the ‘Compare selected versions’ button 17

Watching a Page or Space  To set or remove a page watch, go to the ‘Tools’ menu and select ‘Watch’ or ‘Stop Watching’  To set or remove a space watch, go to the ‘Browse’ menu and select ‘Advanced’, then click ‘Start watching this space’ or ‘Stop watching this space’ Notes:  To turn off Autowatch (automatic watching of any page you create or edit), go to the drop-down menu under your name and select ‘Settings’, then click ‘ ’ 18

Searching the Wiki 1.Start typing into the box at top right of any screen 2.Choose from results in drop-down menu, or 3.Click the ‘Search for [your term]’ at bottom 4.On the detailed results page, you can apply filters to narrow your search Notes:  The search feature shows results only from spaces you have permission to access 19

Published articles must be linked to from within the wiki space; articles may not be copied into the wiki.
