Some of the most unhealthy foods are ones that contain a high energy content without nutritional value. Many of these foods are high in fat or sugar, which makes them high in calories. They do not have a lot of fiber, vitamins, or minerals and do not make people feel full. Therefore many consider these types of food to be ‘empty calories’ and contribute to the weight gain, heart attacks, and diabetes. There is a direct correlation between the amount of unhealthy and healthy food that a person eats and their health status. As people eat more and more unhealthy fast food with a high amount of sugar and fats, they will undoubtedly gain weight and increase their waistline. As this happens they will increase their cholesterol levels and their blood pressure while increasing their blood sugar. All of these metabolic effect of unhealthy food then increase the risk of developing several chronic diseases and having a number of health problems from strokes to early death.
