 Common Core Curriculum Standards adopted by Mississippi and 45 other states  Rigorous standards taking content to a much greater depth of understanding and often introducing content much earlier than we currently do

I. Help teachers to  Understand the standards and the depth of understanding that the standards call for ▪ What do they really say? ▪ Provide teachers with content professional development when needed ▪ Pilot units to practice and revise

 Learn how to write appropriate assessments  Use NAEP as guide  Pilot assessment procedures as they are developed (PARCC)

 Working on comparing present curriculum standards to CCSS with West Ed Research and Development Group  37 Language Arts teachers K-10  36 Math teachers K-8, Algebra I
