9.  Two Assessment Consortiums are designing assessments aligned to the CCSS. ◦ California has currently signed on with the PARCC Consortium. ◦ It is possible that CA will switch to the other assessment Consortium SBAC (SMARTER Balanced Assessment Consortium).  Test will be for grades 2-8 and one in high school - probably grade 11.  Timeline ◦ Pilot and Field Test 2011-2014 ◦ Implementation 2014-15

WestEd is Project Manager – Awarded 160 million  1 reading, 1 writing and 2 math performance assessments in last 12 weeks of school. ◦ Delivered via Computer and will take one to two class periods to complete  End of year comprehensive assessment using Computer Adaptive technology. ◦ 40-65 questions per content area. ◦ Selected-response, constructed response, and technology- enhanced items.  Optional Interim Assessments ◦ Computer Adaptive Assessments and Performance Tasks.
