George Sandridge Gunnar Lacks

History Sir William Herschel announced its discovery on March 13, It was originally classified as a comet.

Location Uranus is the 7 th planet in the Solar System. It is the third largest planet after Jupiter and Saturn. It has the coldest planetary atmosphere in the Solar System

Rotation Uranus moves around the Sun with its rotation axis perpendicular to its orbit around the sun. It is thought that a planet- sized body hit Uranus early in its history, thus tipping it over.

Color Uranus has a thick hydrogen-methane atmosphere which causes the planet’s blue-green color. Uranus is considered a “ice giant” because most of it’s mass is icy.

Rings This image reveals many broad lanes of dust surrounding the 9 main rings of Uranus. It was taken by Voyager 2 looking back toward the sun through the ring system.

Moons Uranus has 5 medium-sized moons and 21 smaller moons.

Missions Voyager 2 is the only spacecraft to visit Uranus On Jan. 24, 1986, it passed within 50,600 miles of the planet

Facts/Video Uranus is the only planet named after a god from Greek mythology. It is the first planet to be discovered by a telescope. The temperature of Uranus is -224°C, making it the coldest planet in the solar system. Uranus’ moons are named after characters created by William Shakespeare and Alexander Pope
