5. Discovery  It was discovered by William Herschel in 1781  He originally wanted to name it “George’s Star”  King George lll awarded him with an annual stipend of 200 pounds

6. Moons  It has 5 main moons that are large  The other moons are much smaller  The 5 largest moons are Miranda, Titania, Oberon, Umbriel, and Ariel.

8. Surface  It’s surface area is approximately 8,115,600,000 km2.  A little more than 80% of it’s mass is it’s core  It’s core is mostly made of icy materials.  Most of it’s gases are made of water

9. Size and Temperature  It’s diameter is 51,500 km or 32,000 miles  The diameter is 4 times larger than Earth’s  It’s temperature is -197.15 C or -322.87° F  It is the smallest of the gas giants

10. Features  It has a very faint set of 12 rings  The rings are made of black dust particles and large boulders  It’s greenish blue color is due to light scattering  It’s the only planet with a sideways rotation
