Our Solar System Made By Chloe,Imogen,Peter And Teigue

2 What Is Our Solar System ?
What is it ? Forces Planets Sizes Our Solar System is Earths local neighbourhood in space. Everything in it is connected to the Sun by the force that we can’t see , this force is called Gravity . The largest planet Jupiter is big enough to hold over 1,300 Earths! (I bet he’s been going to the gym) And the smallest planet Pluto’s even smaller than our Moon .

3 Shooting stars How they are formed? What is it? Where are they?
When are they? Shooting stars and fire balls. A Shooting star is a big block of rock flying through space. Comets are big blocks of ice You will be able to see fire balls at the begging of December or the end of January Every day Earth puts on 550 tones thanks to star dust. The dust particles or meteors smash into the atmosphere at terrific As they enter the air they burn up often producing dramatic streaks of light across the sky called shooting stars

4 What Planets Are In Our Solar System?
Mercury Venus Earth Mars Jupiter Saturn Uranus Neptune Pluto Is surprisingly the planet that we live on Was the first planet to be seen though a telescope is the largest planet in our solar system has 90 x the pressure on earth (which would probably squash you) The sun is the biggest star is our solar system Has only been visited once. It takes 88 days for it to orbit the Sun Is covered in huge icy clouds Is mainly hydrogen & helium

5 Distances Mass Orbit Rotation Earth Size = 510,072,000 km2 ( 1 Earths)
Distances= Moon: 400,000km Sun: million km Orbit= Sun: days (a year and quarter of a day) Earth rotates on it’s own axis every 24 hours (a day)

6 .What Is IT .Distances .size .Rotation
Moon .What Is IT .Distances .size .Rotation Size = x10 km2 (0.074 Earths) Distances = Sun: 147 million km , Earth 400,000 km The moon in our Galaxy is the 5th biggest As the moon rotates around the Earth it also rotates on its own axis it also rotates on its own axis that is why we only see one side of the Earth

7 What is it? Distances Size Rotation
The Sun What is it? Distances Size Rotation The sun is a medium sized star. Sun – Earth = 149,600,000 km between. Sun – Moon = 150 million km between. The size of the sun is 4,366,813 km (11,990 Earths) The sun controls the earths climate and weather. The suns surface temperature is 5,500 degrees centigrade. The sun is 4.6 billion years old it is half way through its life.

8 Quiz How old is the sun ? 4.6 billion years old
What’s the 3rd planet from the sun? Earth What is Pluto? A dwarf planet How long does it take for the Earth to orbit the sun? 365 and ¼ days ( a year ) What is a comet? An ice ball

9 Our galaxy What is our galaxy? What’s in our galaxy?
What is it called? The milky way is our galaxy our galaxy contains planets, stars, meteors, comits, life and shooting stars Our galaxy is a collection of stars and planets flying through the milky way

10 Planets named after Gods
Mercury Venus Mars Jupiter Saturn Uranus Neptune Pluto Mercury-messanger of the gods Venus-goddess of love Mars-god of war Jupiter-king of the gods Saturn-father of jupiter Uranus-god of the heavens Neptune-god of the sea Pluto-god of the underworld
