FACS 56 life management bringing it all together

life management are you all pros now? how do you maintain momentum? maintain a positive attitude focus on what you have keep building on your strengths try something new take time for yourself give back make plans

maintain a positive attitude if you believe you can do something, you can if you believe you can’t, you are also right… you can maintain a positive attitude with: positive self-talk visualization of desired result

focus on what you have happiness is obtained by focusing on what we have rather than on what we want… remember the difference between needs and wants? switch to a new way of thinking —make a mental note each day about something wonderful you already have

keep building on your strengths you are unique & have many wonderful talents, skills and personal qualities if you find that you are having difficulty in one of the areas that we have covered, go back to the book… review what we have done try new things—surprisingly we did not even come close to doing them all other valuable resources at the end of each chapter

try something new there is still much to be discovered about yourself try something new… something you have never done before …something you believe you can’t do …something that is opposite from your usual pattern take a chance…a risk…stretch yourself

take time for yourself however you do it, you need to find time for you alone you need to regenerate your energy and excitement about life the best way to do this??? schedule it in accept fewer requests from others and schedule yourself into your life

give back giving to others brings so much joy into our own lives—what goes around, comes around a smile a greeting random act of kindness listening to a friend volunteering in your community giving to charity

make plans continue to work toward mastery of goal setting time management planning create your own ways to track your goals & integrate your action plans the more you use these skills, the better you will get at them…and the more control you will have over your life

homework activity: recap—FINAL EXAM ESSAY …think back over all the different skills that we have addressed this semester…what worked for you, what didn’t? did you learn anything about yourself? what do you need to continue to work on? …using these prompts and any others that you can think of, write two pages (500 words—typewritten) on what you have learned about yourself this semester …be sure to pick out AT LEAST ONE specific skill and write about it using the process and language from the text while showing how you applied it to your own situation
