Common Core State Standards Kentucky first state to adopt CCSS in February 2010 Cooperative effort: Education Professional Standards Board (teacher certification), Kentucky Board of Education (K-12), and Council for Postsecondary Education (higher ed) chairs and their agency leaders all signed on

Standards Implementation SB 1 states that teachers and administrators receive training in how to:  integrate the standards into classroom instruction  better integrate performance assessment of students  help all students use higher-order thinking and communication skills
