What is EOPS? 1.EOPS (Extended Opportunity Programs and Services) provides support services for students who demonstrate the potential to succeed in higher education. 2.The goal of the EOPS program is to assist economically and educationally disadvantaged students with supplemental educational support services that will enhance their academic success. 3.We offer services that are above, beyond and in addition to services available to all Columbia College students.

What is ? 1.CARE is a supplemental component of the EOPS program designed to provide educational support services and activities for students who are single parents. 2.The goal of CARE is to reduce long term welfare dependency and support the needs of the single parent for economic self-sufficiency.

EOPS Offers the Following Services EOPS Counseling Minimum of 3 counseling sessions per semester Student Success Workshops Optional 1-hour workshops Receive $25 grant for each workshop (max of $50 grant per semester) Priority Enrollment EOPS students enroll on thethe very first day of enrollment Loan service for Math, Guide 1 and Biol 17 textbooks and calculators Financial Assistance* *Contingent upon EOPS funding availability and student eligibility EOPS Book Voucher Bus passes or Parking pass EOPS End-of-Term Grant Application fee waivers for UC/CSU transfer Educational Plans Specialized Counseling to assist you create a Student Educational Plan (SEP).

Eligibility for new EOPS students 1.California Resident 2.Educational Need 3.Economic Need 4.Less than 70 Associate- level units Enrollment in a minimum of 12 units during EOPS intake (more info on next slide) * Exceptions for verified disabilities and EOPS Director approval

“Intake” is a quick 10-minute meeting with an EOPS counselor that you can attend the week before the semester or the 1 st week. Bring one current copy of your official course enrollment. This can be printed out from ConnectColumbia. (This is how we confirm your last eligibility requirement: enrollment in a minimum of 12 units) During intake you will receive: 1. Academic Survival Packet (backpack, binder, pen, paper and dividers) 2. Parking pass or bus tickets 3. $300 book store voucher 4. Loan of Math textbook and calculator (limited availability) EOPS “Intake”

During intake, we will complete the Mutual Responsibilities Contract (MRC) This contract details how to stay eligible for future semesters and outlines the rights and responsibilities of both parties. A few quick points to remember: 1.You are eligible to remain in the EOPS program until you reach 70 units or 6 consecutive semesters. Students who have completed 6 (or more) consecutive semesters in EOPS and have completed less than 70 associate level degree applicable units will remain eligible for EOPS until they reach 70 units, as space allows. 2.Enrollment in 12 units is a requirement for your first semester in EOPS. In future semesters, you are NOT required to enroll in 12 units. 3.You are required to attend 3 counseling sessions within the timeframe provided. 4.Your student is the primary way we communicate with you. 5.You must maintain satisfactory academic progress (minimum of 2.0 GPA and completion of a minimum of 51% of your units). Counseling Session #1 (Weeks 1-7) Educational Plan Counseling Session #2 (Weeks 8-12) Mid-Semester Progress Evaluation Counseling Session #3 (Weeks 13-16) End-of-Term Update EOPS Required Counseling Sessions Each semester, you are required to complete 3 Counseling sessions within a scheduled timeframe.

End of Term Grants At the end of the Fall 2015 term, eligible students will receive a small grant from the EOPS program. Eligibility: 1.Completion of the 3 required counseling sessions within the scheduled timeframe 2.Minimum semester GPA of Minimum unit completion rate of 51% BONUS OPPORTUNITY!!! Students who meet the above eligibility requirements can also receive $25 for each student Success Workshop attended, with a maximum of $50

Student Success Workshops Student Success Workshops are optional workshops designed to enhance your education, provide opportunities for self- reflection, prepare you for the job search, and improve the quality of your overall education. Topics include: - Understanding your Financial Aid- Interview with Confidence -Explore your Learning Style- Job Search Strategies -Relaxation Strategies- Avoiding Procrastination -Financial Literacy- Writing Resumes

EOPS Messaging System Sent to your preferred or your phone as text messages Includes: Reminders about your EOPS appointments, intake, class enrollment, and other school related reminders
