Data Use Workgroup Scheduled to launch in July 2013 Phase I Goal is to develop dashboard and reports for five pilot Ed-Fi projects by end of 2013: – Community, Tech Center, Tribal and Rural – State Resources for all common aspects – Resources from project sponsors/partners for any unique costs Phase II and beyond: new pilots, new districts, new dashboards – all towards statewide use 14

Ed-Fi Linked to the PM Village Intervention Clearinghouse 17 Module 1 Indicator/ Metric View Based on system of leading & lagging indicators, Module 1 allows users to review lagging results, view leading indicators, analyze data and determine area(s) to target. Module 2 Intervention Clearinghouse Module 2 allows users to browse database of researched interventions, read user and research reviews and select intervention to address area(s) of need. Module 3 Intervention Implementation Planning & Monitoring Users create and monitor an implementation plan in Module 3 by selecting students to receive the intervention, identifying parameters and monitoring frequently to determine intervention effectiveness.

Data Governance Workgroup “Student Data Accessibility, Transparency and Accountability Act of 2013” (HB1989) SDE staff hired and consultant contract awarded State Support Team technical assistance site visit postponed Workgroup to form late summer/early fall

Student D.A.T.A. Act 19 Limits the student data available from school districts to the State Department of Education to include only the data necessary for the SDE to carry out its responsibilities.

Student D.A.T.A. Act 20 Access to student data will be tightly restricted to those at the State Department of Education who require such access to perform their duties.

Student D.A.T.A. Act 21 Student data can only leave the state in very narrow circumstances as defined by the law, including when a… – Student transfers out-of-state – Student applies to college out-of-state – Student registers for/takes a national or multi- state assessment – Student is considered a “migrant” for federal reporting purposes

Student D.A.T.A. Act 22 The State Department of Education must work with the Information Services Division (ISD) of OMES to develop and implement a detailed data security plan.
