What are experiences and outcomes? The title ‘experiences and outcomes’ recognises the importance of the quality and nature of the learning experience in developing attributes and capabilities and in achieving active engagement, motivation and depth of learning. An outcome represents what is to be achieved by the child.

Example of Outcomes Early LevelFirst LevelSecond Level Third LevelFourth Level I explore sounds, letters and words, discovering how they work together, and I can use what I learn to help me as I read and write. LIT 0-12a I can spell the most commonly used words, using my knowledge of letter patterns and spelling rules and use resources to help me spell tricky or unfamiliar words LIT 1-21a I can spell most of the words I need to communicate, using spelling rules, specialist vocabulary, self- correction techniques and a range of resources. LIT 2-21a I can use a range of strategies and resources and spell most of the words I need to use, including specialist vocabulary and ensure that my spelling is accurate LIT 3-21a I can use a range of strategies and resources independently and ensure that my spelling, including specialist vocabulary, is accurate. LIT 4-21a

Campie staff have worked this year to produce skill progressions in reading and in writing for teachers.

Building the Curriculum 5 A Framework for Assessment and Reporting

Building the Curriculum 5 Learning engagement in assessment is crucial Teachers need to use many approaches to assessment Assessment should focus on breadth, challenge and assessment Professional dialogue (or ‘MODERATION’) is central to agreeing standards

How do we assess? Peer/Self assessment Observation by teacher/nursery nurse, on video Summative assessments (tests) PIPS (P1, P3, P5 and P7) and other diagnostic tests Tracking systems

Reporting in line with CfE Reporting should give information on:  literacy, numeracy and health and wellbeing  progress within and between levels and in relation to qualifications  strengths and areas for development  application of knowledge in different situations  the need for additional support, where relevant.

Early Level First Level Second Level Third/Fourth Level Nursery and P1 P2 – P4 P5 – P7 S1 – S3
