Canadian population patterns, particularly since World War II have had a serious impact on social trends in this country – those who study these are known as Demographers areas particularly affected include education employment recreation business retirement health care

Data on population is collected every 10 years (max.) in what is called a Census. Sometimes, abbreviated a mini-Census in conducted every 5 years This information is used by : the government to determine immigration policies, education funding, health care requirements etc.

Demographic Groups in Canada since 1945 Baby Boom or ‘Boomers’ large birth group broken down into: Yuppies, D.I.N.K.S (early stage) refers to Young Urban Professionals who are now leaving rural settings to move to the cities, and Double Income No Kids who are those with no children and both spouses working Generation X –
