Protocol Development Groups (PDGs) bring together researchers with a shared interest in specific research questions. PDGs bring together researchers and clinicians and focus on production of high quality, fundable research proposals. The network provides methodological and funding support and monitors progress of the research proposals. We aim to support four PDGs per year. Our Adoption Service Our Aims SMHRN officially launched in November 2009 and is designed to support high quality research in mental health in Scotland. Our main aim is to facilitate the development and set up of large, well-funded research studies in Scotland; as well as ensuring the success of Scottish led clinical trials, epidemiological, genetic and imaging studies. To help accelerate high quality research activity in mental health, a key objective for SMHRN is to provide assistance to the development of new Scottish-led studies and to provide input to study set up, co-ordination, recruitment and closedown. The SMHRN is managed by a co- ordinating centre in Edinburgh with a Scotland-wide Management Group. SMHRN is closely associated with the English and Welsh Mental Health Research Networks and all of the topic specific research networks in Scotland to co-adopt studies where relevant and to pool resources. Would you like assistance with study design, statistics, regulatory issues or study conduct? Our Protocol Development Service (PDS) welcomes applications for support from prospective investigators at an early stage of development.
