Presentation transcript:

What is a task? It is a goal oriented that involves a primary focus on meaning and it has a clearly defined outcome. Task-Based Approach enables to teach a second language that seeks to engage learners in interactional authentic language use by having them perform a series of tasks. It allows learners to acquire new linguistic knowledge and to use their existing knowledge.

Students are free of language control A natural context is developed from the students' experiences with the language that is personalized and relevant to them. They will be exposed to a whole range of lexical phrases, collocations and patterns as well as language forms. Learner-centered rather than teacher controlled It is a strong communicative approach where students spend a lot of time communicating Provide Self-Access Activities It is enjoyable and motivating. Why using Task-Based Approach?

Role of the Teacher Cooperate, Listen and respond to Ss needs Decide what tasks to work on Decide when to try a new task Correct and keep feedback Help Ss monitor each other

Role of the Student Work individually or with the groups equally Gather and organize information Present result to others Ss Analysis of his/her performance with T Perform language

The PPP model of language teaching (presentation, practice, performance) allows he teacher presents the target language and then gives students the opportunity to practice it through very controlled activities. The final stage of the lesson gives the students the opportunity to practice the target language in free activities which bring in other language elements. The PPP model

There are several effective frameworks for creating a task-based learning lesson suggested by Jane Willis: 1.Pre-task 2.Task 3.Planning 4.Report 5.Analysis 6.Practice
