Mrs. Grant’s and Mrs. Juneau‘s Second Grade Classes Welcome!

All About Mrs. Grant Beginning my 15 th year teaching 2 years in Spring ISD, 13 years in Klein ISD My family: Husband-Gary 2 daughters: Brittany, Megan 1 son: Greg 1 dog: Aussie

All About Mrs. Juneau  My background  I received my degree from Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas  My experience  I’ve been teaching for 22 years. All 22 of these years have been in Klein, 20 at Northampton. I have taught grades 2 – 3; Resource K - 2.

Classroom Community Our classroom is a community. In our community, we have rules to help us get along with each other. We have our classroom code and Colt Code of Honor. We follow procedures to make our day run smoothly.

Classroom Rules  Be Responsible  Be Respectful  Be a Good Role Model

Rewards They earned Super Bucks to purchase class rewards.

Homework  I will assign Math Homework on Tuesday and Thursday.  Mrs. Grant will assign ELA homework on Monday and Wednesday.  Students should read every night at least 15 minutes.  Students will be expected to return library books on time. Our Library day is Friday so please return books on Thursday.

Science  Science Lab – experiments.  Life Science: animals, plants, life cycles, habitats, food chains  Earth Science: weather, rocks, minerals, and solar system  Physical Science: solids, liquids, and gases, forms of energy and sound

Reading Expectations Enjoy and gain more confidence in Reading. Focus more on Comprehension and Reading fluency. Reading Rally: 10 week program with 60 minutes each week After the 10 weeks with at least 600 minutes of reading logs they can start Accelerated Reader. Students will participate in Pizza Hut Book It Program from October to March.

Parent Teacher Conference This year we will be conducting parent conferences on October 13, Times will be from: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 15 min. intervals We will be discussing strengths, weaknesses, and goals for this coming year. Please sign up for a time convenient for you! We look forward to discussing your child ’ s progress!

Teacher Conference Times Tuesday, Wednesday 10:00 – 10:45 Friday 9:15-10:00 We are also available on some mornings and afternoons.

General Information  Always send notes if your child has any changes (i.e. transportation, absences, early dismissals, or concerns of any kind)  Children need to be prepared and dressed appropriately to go outside for recess everyday.
