A LITTLE ABOUT ME … I graduated from the University of Iowa (GO HAWKS!) and have my Masters degree from Concordia. Grew up in Crystal Lake Worked at Woods Creek for 3 years, 5 th year at North now (7 th in 2 nd grade) I am a mom to 2 boys (Beckett-almost 7 months, Mac- 2) Married for 5 years (husband works at Hannah Beardsley)

C URRICULUM Guided Reading, Shared Reading, Partner Reading, Independent Reading (Daily) UNITS of study aligned with Common Core 6 Traits Writing Word Study- High Frequency Words weekly, practiced in various way throughout the day (word work station, guided reading, etc.) Everyday Math (Spiraling program) FOSS SCIENCE- Pebbles, Sand, Silt- Balance and Motion-New Plants

C URRICULUM CONTINUED AND H OMEWORK D’Nelian Handwriting (we will begin cursive after winter break!) Math -Math Home Links The assigned lesson will be written in student agenda. The Everyday Math Home Link Book will be kept at home and student will rip out assigned page and turn in completed sheet to school the following day. Reading -20 minutes of nightly reading -Weekly reading passage and comprehension questions will be added in the coming weeks. **Any class work that is not completed in class will be sent home for homework or finished at another time during the day.

MAP TESTING Will be taken 3 times a year FALL, WINTER, SPRING Vocabulary words will be coming home with you soon that target many areas of the MAP test We will use this vocabulary often throughout the year and practice during different areas across the curriculum

B EHAVIOR E XPECTATIONS PBIS Starbucks and Husky Bucks (Any parents interested in helping with this?!) Classroom rewards and positives also given Be safe, respectful, and responsible!! T RANSPORTATION There are three ways to make transportation changes: 1. Send a note with your child.
